Final Abstract
A disconnect exists today between management and front-line teams/workers. This is largely due to advancing technology and a lack of understanding of its true impact on efficiency. Managers get so caught up in their daily tasks of running the business that they neglect to address inefficiencies at lower levels or foster innovative thinking, expecting them to handle it. Yet with overwhelming daily operations and uncertainty on where to begin, the gaps seem too large to bridge. Even more concerning is the lack of support felt by workers looking to apply new innovative approaches.
Without a clear template or process to follow, taking steps forward is met with pushback. Supervisors have truly little time, so progress stalls, as they struggle with the day-to-day alongside line workers. Managers tend to focus upwards on senior management rather than downwards on the frontlines. Though supervisors can request help, they often feel seeking it will be seen negatively. This is where divisions grow, perpetuating the delusion that all is well.
In this book we will dive into many of these challenges being faced by Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) teams today. Our aim will be on technology gaps preventing teams from leveraging the new tools available. We will seek to understand the make-up of what is considered an “Asset” in today’s world with a spotlight on the mystery seeming to surround the “Digital Asset,” many times referred to as the “Digital Twin” or even “Data.” It is these digital assets that companies still struggle with but must fully embrace to move forward toward digitization to drive continuous improvement within their work processes.
To move forward with continuous improvement, digitization, and streamlined processes, we must understand the assets fully—not just their physical form but their digital potential.
The goal of this undertaking is to eliminate the delusion affecting EAM teams today and move beyond them. Whether they feel overwhelmed with the task in front of them, need to educate upper management on processes plagued with inefficiencies, or even just the value of the digital assets today. This book illuminates every aspect of EAM digitization while introducing the application of innovation. Know where to start, what tools exist, and which path to take. Technology demands digitization. Modern processes require vision. The information contained within has been assembled to arm you with solid understanding of challenges, concepts/tools, and a look into a path forward Beyond The Delusion.
